Project Management Services:
Delivering
lasting change
Aligning projects to the organisation’s strategy
We
can support your business management and project staff in the production
of a robust business case which will allow a rational appraisal of the
soundness of the investment.
Identifying the key stakeholders and their involvement in the project or
programme is crucial to ensuring success and keeping the initiative
aligned to business strategy. We can provide techniques and tools to
maximise success.
There needs to be a strong focus on benefits throughout the project or
programme life-cycle, and we can facilitate this by assisting with
benefits modelling workshops, benefits profiling and helping create
benefits realisation plans.
Setting up organisational structures
Ensuring that your business approach to the running of projects and
programmes survives depends on there being an embedded change culture
supported by robust organisational elements. We have experience in
helping clients identify how they will create a lasting legacy.
Programme/project/activity– which is it? One of the key success factors
for efficient change initiatives is to determine what level of change is
being defined. There are methods for managing at programme level, at
project level and as part of business as usual. Getting the right level
of governance at the start is crucial. We have techniques which will
provide the management with confidence that the right structure is in
place.
For
lasting effect, it may be appropriate to set up a programme or project
support office to provide a permanent organisational focus for local
best practice and lessons learned. It can also provide a safe haven for
new project staff to get experience in a supportive environment.
Local best practice
We
can help codify the good practices being carried out currently in the
business. Many organisations have pockets of best practice which just
needs some overarching framework to provide a coherent approach.
As
part of the local best practice definition, we can provide insights into
the world’s leading methods, such as ‘Managing Successful Programmes’
and Prince2, and provide clarity and understanding about the
appropriateness of the professional bodies such as APM and PMI.
Training needs and fulfilment
When reviewing the best ways to improve local practices it may be
necessary to provide training interventions. We can identify what
training is necessary and via which approach, whether it be trainer
delivered in a classroom, e-learning or self-study.
Delivering training
We
provide a core set of project and programme training courses which can
support any change initiative. Many of these courses are accredited and
hence can provide independent assessment of trainee performance.
Examples include PRINCE2 and APMP.
Performing project and programme audits
During the execution of any project or programme there will be the need
for independent audits and reviews. We have both run and provided
support to these activities.
We
can provide informal health checks on projects and programmes, reporting
back to the sponsoring management.
We can also provide support to the more formal end of phase or
gateway reviews. We have experience in both public and private
organisations and understand the differences in perspective and
sensitivities.
